Welcome to GreenSchoolToolbox!
By connecting users with learning tools and
resources to support the development of high performance schools, GreenSchoolToolbox serves as a tool to share the best knowledge available— giving communities the information they need to create high
performance schools.
GreenSchoolToolbox is a collaborative effort of the Connecticut Green Building Council and Grass Commons
Why?
The Connecticut Green Building Council's (CTGBC) interest in the information
world is simple: getting organized. With a surplus of information on
creating high performance schools bombarding, some of the most valuable information becomes hard to find. We believe the answer lies in using collaborative community tools to help pool, vet, and arrange that information.
Grass Commons is an Oregon-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on helping online communities develop public resources. Their pioneering open-source Wagn software, initially developed for gathering consumer information on products and companies' social and environmental impacts, has been nominated for multiple awards for its innovative approach to making complex data simple to gather and use.
How?
All the information on GreenSchoolToolbox is arranged into "cards." Each page on the site contains several cards, and those cards can be linked to each other with normal weblinks, or "joined" together to form new cards. They're easy to create, easy to edit, and easy to join!
