Energy Smart Schools

The U.S. Department of Energy's Building Technologies Program sponsors the EnergySmart Schools Program to reduce schools' energy use and to provide better learning environments for children. Endorsed by the National School Boards Association (NSBA), the initiative seeks to help school districts by disseminating financing opportunities, providing training to building industry professionals, and weaving together broad networks of public and private partners.


The program's guidelines yield many benefits to schools, including lower operating costs and healthier learning environments. The program provides resources for teachers and resources for architects and engineers.
